Professors Manuel Agosin, Oscar Landerretche and Kirsten Sehnbruch all from the Faculty of Economics and Business and researchers at the Centre for New Development Thinking at the University of Chile presented papers at a panel organised by Kirsten Sehnbruch and chaired by Peter Siavelis, Professor of Political Science at the University of Wake Forest, during the 2012 conference of the Latin American Studies Association. The panel entitled Chile under the Concertación presented chapters from a forthcoming book of the same name edited by Kirsten Sehnbruch and Peter Siavelis that examines the political, social and economic development of Chile under Concertación governments between 1990 and 2010. The book will be the first comprehensive analysis of the Concertacion period to be published outside of Chile, and will be forthcoming towards the end of 2012. The panel also included a presentation on the development of poverty rates under the Concertación given by Sylvia Borzutzky from Carnegie Melon University. Presentations and papers from this event can be downloaded here.
